Chimney Cat - Bronwynne Cornish. Born in Wellington in 1945, Cornish has become one of New Zealand’s best known makers of sculptural ceramics throughout a career spanning over forty years. Cornish’s work looks at the crossover between animals and people – placing those characteristics in fine balance and emphasising the “wildness” that we have lost in our lives today. Bronwynne’s Chimney Cat can be found in our Ponsonby flagship store, 70 Mackelvie St in Auckland.
“I make work that I hope will create a certain atmosphere, ring a long-lost bell, and help people create their own mythologies.” Bronwynne Cornish
Murano Glass antique shell created on the island of Murano, located within the borders of the city of Venice in Northern Italy. Gold or silver foil are added to the glass mixture, along with other minerals, and melted together in a special furnace to reach a liquid state. Master glassmakers use special techniques and basic tools, many of which have been developed in the Middle Ages and changed little since. You caan find the Murano Glass shell at Deadly Ponies’ new Britomart Store at No.16, The Pavillions in Auckland.
