As every hide is unique; tonal variations, marks or veins are natural features and should not be considered imperfections. To preserve the original quality of your bag we recommend avoiding contact with water, grease, perfumes and cosmetics, and extended exposure to U.V and storing your Deadly Ponies in the dust bag provided when not in use. Every Deadly Ponies product crafted from natural materials will evolve over time with use and become as unique as its owner. Please refer to the information below on the exact materials used in your bag and how best to care for your Mr. ensuring he stands the test of time.

Leather

Patent lamb

Crushed patent lamb leather combines numerous textures to create a leather that boasts a high gloss contemporary look. The rippled texture of the leather which will become more pronounced over time should not be considered as an imperfection.
Patent leathers should be kept away from any materials that may transfer color pigments onto the leather, such as magazines, denim, or other leathers. The risk of transfer may particularly affect small leather goods.
Exposure to sunlight should be avoided, as color may fade. Light colors may also patina in time, developing a yellow hue.

Simply clean any dust off with a colour fast damp lint free cloth. If the gloss of the leather becomes compromised, we suggest taking your product to a leather care specialist.

Calf Nappa

Through a rigorous selection process, calfskin and cowhide leathers are chosen for their refinement, suppleness and velveteen touch. They may carry natural markings, such as veins or wrinkles which should not be considered as imperfections.
These carefully selected leathers can be compromised with the use of any commercial cleaners. Elements such as oils, make up, perfumes, creams, or sanitizers applied to the leather can augment its natural beauty and performance capabilities.

If light marking does occur we suggest massaging your product gently in circular motions. For optimal longevity we recommend applying a leather conditioner every two months and storing your bag in the dust bag provided when not in use. Please ensure you use a natural leather conditioner and apply it to your bag with a clean cloth and gently rub the leather in circular motions. If further marking or water damage occurs, we suggest taking your product to a leather care specialist.

From time to time under certain environmental conditions, colours may migrate either to or from the leather. This phenomenon is increased with prolonged contact, friction, temperature and humidity and may be irreversible. Please be careful when wearing these materials against light coloured clothing and those with unstable dyes such as denim.

Deer Nappa

Deadly Ponies signature leather, Deer Nappa, sourced from the South Island of New Zealand is a luxurious and versatile leather both strong and thick yet soft and supple. To ensure your Deer Nappa Leather wears/ages beautifully over time we recommend avoiding contact with water and grease and avoiding overexposure to heat and direct U.V light. Owing to the soft and supple nature of Deer Nappa, marking or scratches can occur when rubbed against anything coarse or abrasive. If marking occurs, simply massage the leather against your skin and let your natural oils reduce any permanent marks or scars. For optimal longevity we recommend applying a leather conditioner every two months and storing your bag in the dust bag provided when not in use. Please ensure you use a natural leather conditioner and apply it to your bag with a clean cloth and gently rub the leather in circular motions.

Deer Antiqua

Deadly Ponies Deer Antiqua leather has similar properties to our signature deer nappa, however it does have a shinier surface. Due to the luxurious waxy exterior we recommend caution around contact with water and grease, and avoiding overexposure to heat and direct U.V light as over time fading may occur. For optimal longevity we recommend applying a leather conditioner every two months and storing your bag in the dust bag provided when not in use. Please ensure you use a natural leather conditioner and apply it to your bag with a clean cloth and gently rub the leather in circular motions.

Please ensure you use a natural leather conditioner and apply it to your bag with a clean cloth and gently rub the leather in circular motions.

Our paneled New Zealand lamb nappa has been crafted into a tonal rainbow, featuring signature Deadly Ponies colours from our archives, including, Black, Cobalt, Sky, Khaki, Amber, Rust, Blossom and Chalk. Due to the paneled lamb nappa being a natural product, markings or indentations may occur. If light marking does occur we suggest gently massaging your product gently in circular motions.

Due to the lighter nature of some of the panels we suggest exercising caution around any contact with water, grease, makeup, hand creams and perfumes. If this occurs we highly suggest taking your product to a leather care specialist as soon as possible.

Bovine

Our bovine leather offers durability, and above all a unique aesthetic. Bovine leather is classically known for its robust texture. Bovine leather has a naturally stiff texture that is fashioned to soften over time.
As your Deadly Ponies Bovine product is crafted from a natural material, markings, indentations or grain variations may occur. These however should not be considered as imperfections and should instead be treated as unique features, just as unique as the wearer. For optimal longevity we recommend applying a leather conditioner every two months and storing your bag in the dust bag provided when not in use. Please ensure you use a natural leather conditioner and apply it to your bag with a clean cloth and gently rub the leather in circular motions.

Bovine 'Croc'

Deadly Ponies croc leather, is made from our bovine leather that has been embossed with a croc appearance. This leather has been designed with a more uniform texture or embossment, offering a subtle variation to the engineered crocotile embossed products. Our bovine leather has a robust and durable nature. As such this leather has a firmer texture that will soften and change over time in both feel and appearance. We recommend caring for your item by using a slightly damp cloth to wipe over the surface should any marking or spillage occurs, and storing in a cool, dry environment in the dust bag provided when not in use.

Bovine 'Crocotile'

Our ‘Crocotile’ leather has been specifically custom engineered from the finest bovine leather we can source. The patchwork design has been constructed through a bespoke croc-embossment process. Our bovine leather offers durability, and above all a unique aesthetic. Bovine leather is classically known for its robust texture and every patch of leather has been individually composed to create the overall appearance of your beautiful crocotile piece. Bovine leather has a naturally stiff texture that is fashioned to soften over time. The colouring of your crocotile item may vary and lighten as the panels wear and age. The crocotile leather is an Aniline leather meaning the leathers is a dyed exclusively with soluble dyes without covering the surface with a topcoat paint helping to keep its natural appearance. This does mean that your Crocotile product is more susceptible to light. For day to day wear there should be no problem, however we recommend avoiding continual exposure to direct sunlight. Our Crocotile leather has been designed with an easy care processes in mind. If any marking or spillage occurs, we recommend wiping your Crocotile bag with a slightly damp cloth to and keep in a cool, dry environment in the storage bag provided when not in use.

Pebbled Bovine

Deadly Ponies introduces Pebbled Bovine into a selection of our signature styles to offer additional strength and durability.

Saddle

Our Saddle leather differs to our Deer Nappa as it is dyed using vegetable tanner. This environmentally responsible process of tanning is less harmful to the leather itself and allows the skin to maintain their tight fiber structure resulting in better wear overtime. This leather is very absorbent and can absorb oils from your skin, which in turn changes the appearance of the leather overtime to a darker and shiner texture after each use. We recommend conditioning this leather less frequently than the Deer Nappa and only when your bag appears to need it. You can also use a silicon spray to keep your saddle leather in optimal condition. To use, spray over the surface, leave to dry and then buff away with a dry soft cloth. If you wish to darken the colour of the leather, you may use beeswax, a naturally effective solution for waterproofing, conditioning and protecting leather products. When not in use we highly recommend storing your bag in the protection bag provided.

Light Leather

To preserve the original quality of light coloured leathers we strongly recommend exercising caution around any contact with water, grease, makeup, hand creams and perfumes. If this occurs we highly suggest taking your product to a leather care specialist as soon as possible. Additionally please be careful of which surfaces you put your bag on and be aware that dyes from dark clothing can transfer to your bag. If you have a darker colour bag and lighter handles we strongly recommend storing your strap inside the bag when not in use and hanging your bag from the additional handles so to avoid rubbing or colour transfer.

To maintain the protective coating on the leather we recommend treating your bag with a natural leather conditioner on a regular basis. Always apply the conditioner to a soft clean cloth and gently rub onto the leather in a circular motion. If your bag comes into contact with any liquid, wipe it off immediately with a soft damp cloth. Talcum powder can be applied to reduce the impact of any oil-based products or else we recommend taking your bag to a leather care specialist.

Printed Leather

We recommend taking extra care with your Deadly Ponies printed leather product. Due to the nature of the material please avoid excessive abrasion, or exposure to extreme sunlight as this may cause fading or cracking of the print. We also suggest being cautious of any contact with water, grease, makeup, hand creams and perfumes as over time this could remove the printing. When your item is not in use, please keep it in its protection bag provided. To maintain the original quality of your product we recommend using a clear, natural leather conditioner. Always apply the conditioner to a soft clean cloth and gently rub onto the leather in a circular motion.

Bulle Lamb or Molten

Coveted for its soft, supple and bubble like textured surface our Bulle Lamb leather is well on its way to becoming an iconic feature of Deadly Ponies. Our New Zealand lamb leather travels to a tannery in France where they achieve the bubble (or Bulle in french) texture. Our Bulle leather is lightweight, warm and delicate, which may stretch or distort if your bag is overloaded and gradually overtime with use. To ensure your bulle leather wears/ages beautifully over time we recommend avoiding contact with water and grease and avoiding overexposure to heat and direct U.V light. Please note that marking or scratches can occur when rubbed against anything coarse or abrasive. We recommend conditioning your bag every few months with a natural leather care product and using the protection bag provided when not in use. Also please note that each molten bag is unique and therefore the bulle texture will vary.

Metallic Lamb

Our metallic pouchers range derives from Italian lambskin with a crunch foil surface. Available exclusively in our Mr Poucher in Gold, Silver and Rose Gold, we recommend using your Poucher with care and storing him in the protection bag provided when not in use to prevent any wear and tear that can occur with the metallic range.

Our Resort ’19 metallic capsule is crafted from lamb nappa with a foil metallic finish. Available in our Mr Mini Woolf and our Poucher we recommend taking extra care with your metallic item. Due to the nature of this foil finish we recommend avoiding abrasive surfaces as this may cause the metallic to scratch, flake or pull away from the lamb surface. We recommend using your metallic item with care and storing in the dust bag provided when not in use.

Metallic Bovine

Our metallic bovine products are constructed from bovine leather, coveted for its structure and durability. The leather has been printed with a metallic rose gold foil that accentuates the lustrous metallic appearance and highlights the natural grain. For optimal longevity we recommend applying a leather conditioner every few months and storing your item in the dust bag provided. Please ensure you use a natural leather conditioner and apply it to your product with a clean cloth and gently rub the leather in circular motions. Please note that excessive abrasion will result in the diminishing of the metallic lustre.

Suede

Suede is soft and luxurious, however due to the nature of the hide, some suede leather fibers may rub and fleck off when rubbed against surfaces (i.e. your clothing). Please note that the fibers of your clothing, particularly denim or dark may also transfer onto your bag. It is essential given the nature of suede that you are particularly cautious of UV exposure, as the material is very sensitive to environmental factors. We recommend taking extra care of your Deadly Ponies suede leather product and if marking occurs we suggest patting the area dry with a clean cloth or suede eraser. If your suede gets wet or oily you can apply a thin layer of talcum powder, leave it to dry overnight before gently brushing with a suede brush (or piece of dry towel) to remove any excess moisture. Regularly using a suede brush will help keep the fabrics natural nap and will also remove any excess surface dirt that may be left on the suede. We highly suggest ensuring you keep your Suede product away from topical cleaning products, as these will disrupt the fibers in the suede. When not in use store in the protection bag provided.

Shearling

Calf Fur

Your Deadly Ponies bag is made using the softest, most luxurious furs we can source. Tonal variations and differing hair direction is a natural feature and each fur is completely unique. Over time the fur will become shorter or fall out (much like in your own hair) in areas that receive repeated friction. This is a natural progression of the fur and should not be considered an imperfection. In order to slow this natural process please avoid harsh wear and store in the protection bag provided. To clean the fur, first brush delicately in the direction of the hair (not against the knap) to remove loose dirt. Then, using a damp cloth, gently rub the fur being sure to avoid excessive moisture.

Shearling Wool

Your Deadly Ponies bag is made using luxurious 100% shearling wool. Due to the nature of shearling wool, tonal variations, differing hair direction and amount of fur may vary as each product is unique. Over time the fur may become shorter or lessen in areas that receive repeated friction. While this is a natural progression of shearling and should not be considered an imperfection, to slow the process down we suggest avoiding harsh wearing of the product and storing your bag in the dust bag provided when not in use. Furthermore, please note that repeated friction against clothing may result in possible colour migration to light clothing.

As with all wool products, please note that excessive rain or water exposure may cause a change in colour, patches of discolouration or misshaping. We also suggest avoiding placing your shearling product near an excessive heat source or UV light as this may result in the shearling to change colour or dry out and crack over time. Please store your bag in the protection bag provided when not in use.
In the case of any markings, you may use a damp cloth to remove any marks, however we do recommend you take your shearling product to a care specialist for cleaning and optimal care.

Wool Scarf

The Wool Scarf is made from 100% shearling merino wool. For optimal care of your scarf we recommend applying leather conditioner on the nappa reverse with a dry, soft cloth. For further care we suggest taking your scarf to a leather care specialist.

Alpaca

Our Alpaca items are crafted using luxuriously soft Alpaca fibres which are undyed and hypo-allergenic. Due to the delicate nature of this natural fibre we recommend exercising caution around wear of your item as pilling may occur. This is a natural progression of your item and should not be considered a fault. We suggest storing your Alpaca item in the dust bag provided when not in use and taking to a dry cleaner or leather care specialist if cleaning or further care is required.

Alpaca Scarf

For optimal care of your Alpaca scarf we recommend folding or rolling your scarf rather than hanging to prevent stretching. Due to the delicate nature of this natural fibre, pilling may occur. We suggest using a firm bristle brush in a delicate manner to restore the pile if this occurs. Please store your Alpaca Scarf in the dust bag provided when not in use. This item is dry clean only.

Capra Python

Our Capra Python leather has been crafted from Goat leather using a series of techniques and has undergone over thirty processes to create a true representation and texture of Python. Due to the delicate nature of this product we recommend exercising caution around harsh wear of this item. The textured nature of the leather may cause the exterior to lift, rub, soften or fade over time. This is a natural progression of your item and should not be considered a fault.

To clean, we recommend use of the No 1 and No 3 Deadly Ponies Leather Wash and Leather Cream only, using sparingly in gentle circular motions or suggest taking your item to your local leather care specialist.

We recommend storing your Python item in the dust bag provided when not in use.

Ostrich

Ostrich

Our Ostrich leather is luxurious, supple and thick. As this is a natural product, each item is as unique as the Ostrich themselves, and as such no hide will be the same as any other. All Ostrich products will have unique detailing, including scale size, foil flecks and panel width. Each ostrich item featuring a gold foil piece is hand painted meticulously onto your product and as such, this feature will vary between each individual piece and the coverage will soften with age. We recommend being mindful of how you use your ostrich product and apply leather conditioning cream every few months to keep your leather supple and luxurious.

Pearled Ostrich

Our natural pearled ostrich leather, features an exotic goose bump exterior from the large feature quill follicles. All Ostrich products are unique and as such no two products will have the same detailing. We recommend being mindful of how you use and store your ostrich product and as such, recommend applying a leather conditioning cream every few months and storing your product in the dust bag provided.

PVC

Our transparent capsule is made from PVC. Due to the nature of this material we recommend taking additional care and avoiding abrasive surfaces as this may scratch the surface of your item.  To ensure longevity of your item we recommend avoiding excessive sunlight or UV rays as this may cause your item to discolour. Furthermore to prevent colour migration onto your PVC item we recommend avoiding prolonged contact with dark coloured clothing or items.

To clean simply wipe the surface of your item with a soft cloth with warm water. If marking has occurred you can add a small amount of dish washing liquid to the warm water.  Ensure you wipe down your item with a soft dry cloth and leave to dry fully before storing or using your item. Please ensure this method is used to clean your PVC only and that this does not touch the leather on your item. When not in use ensure your PVC item is stored in the dust bag provided.

Neoprene

Due to the nature of Neoprene and the rubbery texture, this material has some water resistance. Neoprene wears well and can simply be wiped down with a damp cloth if any marking occurs. We do however recommend taking extra care of your Neoprene items as rubber can dent and crease easily if something heavy is placed on it or if the product is not well looked after. If creasing does occur, simply leave the bag to stand in a cool area and stuff the inside. You may also your hand to rub over the creased leather and this can considerably help alleviate the marking. We recommend storing your bag in the protection bag provided when not in use.

Felt

Wool felt is a natural product that is non-woven, both soft yet strong and durable. Due to its natural fiber, felt may have marks or fleks in the material that should not be considered imperfections. Felt is naturally considered stain resistant but if marking does occur, we recommend taking extra care. Carefully spot cleaning your felt product with lukewarm water and a mild detergent, with minimal aggression should lift any mark. Any excessive heat or agitation may cause the wool felt to shrink or fade. We recommend taking your bag to a cleaning specialist if any marking occurs. If pilling occurs you can easily remove them by hand or using a fluff roller. Repeated abrasive overuse is not recommended to ensure the integrity of your product.

Canvas

Our canvas products are made using 100% natural cotton canvas that is untreated. Canvas is easy to maintain as it has water resistant qualities. Simply brush off any dust before it embeds in the fabric and wipe off any moisture or spill as soon as they occur. We do recommend avoiding any excessive abrasion, extreme U.V. exposure and water saturation. If any marks appear carefully spot clean with a cotton cloth and lukewarm water, rubbing very gently.A scotchgard treatment can be explored with your local leather care specialist.

Denim

Denim is renowned for its durability and easy care. At Deadly Ponies we only use 100% Cotton denim. Due to the nature of the material of your bag, please avoid excessive sunlight, excessive abrasion and exposure to water. As Denim is an absorbent material we recommend avoiding any moisture or wearing your bag in wet weather conditions as the dye may bleed when excessively wet. Please take particular care with your two tonal denim dip bag. If your denim bag does become stained and requires cleaning we recommend conducting a patch test where you dampen a small area of the bag with a clean white cloth. Dip the edge of the cloth into a mixture of mild detergent and warm water. Wait 15 minutes and if there is no colour fade or ripple effect you may proceed to spot clean the stain following the directions above. We recommend blotting the fabric dry with an absorbent, clean cloth and air-drying overnight. If possible we suggest taking your bag to a cleaning specialist.

Embellishments

Marble Stone

We recommend taking extra care of your Deadly Ponies products with natural stone attachments. Due to the nature of the stone, please refrain from dropping your handbag on hard surfaces & be cautious of destructive movements while in transit with your bag. As marble is very soft and porous stone it is prone to scratches, chips and water spots. Please handle stones with extra care as heavy impact can cause the stones to shatter. When not in use store in protection bag provided.

Pearl Embellishments

All Pearlies products that feature the Pearl Button embellishments have been hand sewn. Any variations in the stitching is not to be considered an imperfection. We recommend taking extra care of your Pearlies Product as the embellishments are delicate. In case of loss or breakage, the necessary items have been provided for replacement in a care kit on the swing tag.

Cotton Lining

All our Deadly Ponies bags are fitted with a 100% cotton black lining to reduce the visible signs of marking through use. If you wish to clean your lining we suggest removing all contents of your bag and flipping your bag inside out. Wipe down the lining with a damp cloth and let your lining sit outside the bag until it is completely air dried away from heat or sunlight.

Brass Accessories

Our Deadly Ponies bags are fitted with 100% brass accessories including buttons, D Rings, chain straps and more. Due to the nature of brass it can tarnish or darken naturally and over time. We recommend keeping it away from damp surfaces and being cautious of products on your skin that may cause the brass to tarnish, i.e. makeup, perfume and hand creams. Brass is very easy to clean and shine with a brass cleaner. To use, simply add a small amount of brass cleaner to a micro fiber cloth and rub along the brass surface. Proceed to wipe all cleaner off and polish your brass. Please bear in mind that all cleaner will need to be wiped off or it can oxidize and turn green. Avoid getting any brass cleaner in contact with your leather as it can cause damage. If this occurs promptly remove from the leather with a damp natural cloth to ensure your bag is not permanently damaged and/or that there are no lasting effects.

Tonal variations and differing hair direction and length is a natural feature and each collar is completely unique. Over time the shearling may become shorter or fall out in areas that receive repeated friction. This is a natural progression and should not be considered an imperfection. In order to slow this natural process please avoid harsh wear and store in the protection bag provided. For further cleaning of your collar, you may use a damp cloth to remove any marks. Avoid transferring makeup, perfumes and other cosmetics onto the shearling.

For optimal care we recommend avoiding getting your shearling jacket excessively wet, if this does occur we highly suggest taking your jacket to a care specialist. To preserve its texture, we suggest storing your jacket in a cool, dry location in its garment bag when not in use. If any cleaning or spot removal is required, please see your local care specialist.

Additionally, for the Pony Rider Series One Gull Grey shearling jacket, due to the lighter colour, we recommend treating your jacket with extra care. We highly recommend applying a suede spray to the exterior of the jacket to add protection against wet weather and spills. This will need to be redone annually. We also suggest avoiding transferring makeup, perfumes and other cosmetics onto the collar of your jacket. If any marking does occur, we highly suggest taking your jacket to a care specialist.
