Twenty years in the making.

Deadly Ponies was born in a small Auckland garage, where a single handcrafted leather design became the first of many. That piece marked the beginning of a twenty-year journey, shaped by creativity, innovation,
and craft.

In just a few short years, Deadly Ponies found its way into New Zealand boutiques, quietly gaining recognition for one-off designs.

By 2010, we had crossed the Tasman, and later, David Jones welcomed Deadly Ponies as an international stockist.

Our first flagship opened in Ponsonby in 2014, inside a former glass-blowing studio - a unique space with its own creative story to tell.

Stores soon followed in Newmarket, Britomart, and Wellington, each one bringing the collections to life and helping shape a refined approach to interiors that remains part of our brand’s DNA.

A playful chapter unfolded in 2017 with the global launch of My Little Pony x Deadly Ponies.

A collaboration that balanced distinct design with cultural relevance, and reached new audiences worldwide.

Innovation has always been at the heart of Deadly Ponies. In 2020, the first Recycle collection was introduced, transforming offcuts into new creations.

That same year, a partnership with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation paid tribute to pioneering textile artist Anni Albers, and by 2022, footwear had joined the line-up - crafted with the same considered approach that defines every Deadly Ponies piece.

The journey continued south in 2024, with the opening of our first South Island flagship in Queenstown.

That same year, Deadly Ponies achieved B Corp Certification - a milestone reflecting a long-standing commitment to both people and planet.

Now, in 2025, we celebrate twenty years - a moment of reflection, and ambition. It marks not only where we have been, but where we are headed. As we step into our third decade, bold new designs, limited-edition collaborations, and thoughtful innovation lie ahead, just as they have since the very first stitch.
